Unarmed School Police Officer
Cardinal Point Security Group is seeking an Unarmed School Police Officer who will supervise a small team of Security Officers to facilitate a safe learning environment and keep students, staff, and faculty safe from violence.
Location: Philadelphia, PA 19124
Rate: $30.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri - 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Wednesdays - 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Schedule includes normal school hours, occasional after-school events, and Summer Camp
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be a Cardinal Point Ambassador: Be on time. Look sharp in proper uniform. Be engaged. Be consistent
- Supervises a small team of School Security Officers
- Ensures required scheduling and staffing metrics are met
- Coach and mentor students
- Incident Management and de-escalation
- Maintains orderly flow of foot traffic in the hallways
- Monitors restrooms throughout the day
- Reports maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel
- Walks up to 10,000 steps per day to patrol school facilities and grounds to prevent access to restricted areas, theft, or vandalism
- Stands for up to four hours per day
- Act as First responder for emergencies
- Stands post at secondary locations as required
- Identify and report suspicious activity
- Cultivate positive relationships with staff and students
- Access Control
- Monitor CCTV
Basic Qualifications:
- Retired or honorably separated Municipal Police Officer or State Trooper
- Current clearances as required by the laws of Pennsylvania (24 P.S. § 1-111) weapons use/baton use/restrain procedures.
- Must possess a valid PA Act 235 Certification.
- Must possess a valid PA Concealed Carry Permit
- Must possess your own firearm.
- Must be able to pass the SPO MPOETC Firearms Qualification
- Graduate from Municipal Police Officer Education Training Commission’s Police Academy OR State Police Academy
- High School diploma or GED
- Consent to a drug screen.
- Must be willing to obtain Act 168, Child Abuse, PA State Criminal History and PDE FBI Clearances as required by the Child Protective Services Law and PA School Code.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
- Reliable means of communication (active cell phone with mobile email access).
- Ability to comprehend and utilize the English Language (verbal and written).
- Reliable means of transportation.
- Must possess a customer focused, professional, and courteous demeanor.
- Clean driving record with no at fault accidents for last 10 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- School security experience and Act 67 Certification.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
