Student Safety Officer (De‑escalation Specialist)

Cardinal Point Security Group is building a team of Security Officers who will facilitate a safe learning environment and keep students, staff, and faculty safe from violence.
The Unarmed Student Safety Officer (USSO) is a specialized security role focused on preventing and de‑escalating conflicts among students, supporting a safe learning environment, and partnering closely with school administrators and counselors. This is an excellent fit for candidates with experience in security, law enforcement, military, education, or social services who want to make a direct impact on youth while maintaining a predictable schedule.

Location: Montgomery County, PA
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Position is Monday to Friday, starting at 30 hours per week.
- Schedule includes regular school hours plus after-school and occasional weekend events when required.
- This position follows the school calendar, with 2 months off during the summer.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as primary responder for student conflicts, fights, and tense situations on campus
- Apply de‑escalation techniques to calm situations, separate students, and reduce the need for law enforcement involvement
- Build rapport with students to identify early warning signs of conflict or safety concerns
- Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and SROs (if present) on behavior plans and safety protocols
- Document incidents clearly and maintain logs to identify trends (locations, times, individuals)
- Advise school leadership on hot spots and recommended preventative measures
- Coach and support Campus Security Officers in basic de‑escalation approaches
- Participate in ongoing training in youth behavior, trauma‑informed practices, and conflict resolution
- Strong verbal communication and conflict management skills
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
- Completion of company “School De‑escalation Training” within 30 days of hire
- Maintains orderly flow of foot traffic in the hallways
- Monitors restrooms throughout the day
- Reports on maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel
- Walks up to 10,000 steps per day to patrol school facilities and grounds to prevent access to restricted areas, theft, or vandalism
- Stands for up to four hours per day
- Stands post at secondary locations as required
- Identify and report suspicious activity
- Completes daily activity reports and incident reports as required
- Cultivate positive relationships with staff and students

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of Security experience working in a school environment, or have experience as a Sworn Police Officer, military, or corrections officers, education, social work, youth programs, or related fields.
- Must successfully pass a mandatory drug screen
- Minimum of 6 years’ post-high school education work experience
- Able to work well under pressure
- High School Diploma or GED
- Obtains required clearances for working in school
- Ability to complete all required training to work in schools
- No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
- Reliable means of communication (active cell phone with mobile email access)
- Ability to comprehend and utilize the English Language (verbal and written)
- Reliable means of transportation
- Must possess a focused, professional, and courteous demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Sworn Municipal, State, or Federal Police Officer OR Military MP, Military MA, Air Force Security Forces.
- Valid Driver’s License
